Thorisstadir is owned by Stefán Tryggvason and his wife Inga M. Árnadóttir. Their children also help running the family business. Inga (1958) is a teacher and also has a degree in norwegian and has degrees as librarian. Stefán (1957) is a forestry farmer and has a candidate degree in agronomy. He creates handcraft from the local forrest in the wintertime. The children are: Jóhanna (1978) employee of the human resource department of Alcoa Fjardaral, Tryggvi (1982) PhD student in genetics, Árni (1984) employee of the directorate of labour and MSc student, Þórir (1992) college student and Arnaldur (1996) in elementary school.
